Write House is a forthcoming generalist community of blogs, a safe invite-only place to celebrate who you are and what you like. Your posts can be read here on the site, subscribed to via RSS, or followed on “federated” services such as Mastodon. (Email subscriptions are coming, too.) Plus, you can choose to include your posts in our public community feed.
(If you want to get a better idea of the WriteFreely platform, you can check out Write.as, the flagship site from the folks behind the software, although it includes more features than third-party sites like Write House.)
Write House is an invite-only community. At launch, you will have to know Bix, in order to sign up. Members then will be able to invite others.
Members of Write House will be expected to abide by a Code of Conduct modeled either on the Community Covenant, the XOXO Festival Community Code of Conduct, or some combination of the two. It will prioritize marginalized people’s safety over privileged people’s comfort.
Full, local text to come.
TL;DR: No fear. No hate. No thoughtless bullshit. (And no nazis.)
The hosting plan for Write House is not expected to exceed $10/month, barring unlikely, unexpected growth. Members will be asked, but not required, to help cover the hosting plan and administrative labor through our Patreon.
“WriteFreely is built around writing. There's no news feed, notifications, or unnecessary likes or claps to take you away from your train of thought. You get a distraction-free writing environment, and readers can enjoy a clean reading experience.”
Write House is home to 436 articles across 2 blogs.
WriteFreely is a self-hosted, decentralized blogging platform for publishing beautiful, simple blogs.
It lets you publish a single blog, or host a community of writers who can create multiple blogs under one account. You can also enable federation, which allows people in the fediverse to follow your blog, bookmark your posts, and share them with others.
